Consider the most basic causes of ceiling exfoliation, and methods for solving them:
1. Old layer putty or whitewash.During the preparation of the base, many novice masters are not serious about the careful removal of the old finish - whitewash, old putty, wallpaper.But each missed small area subsequently becomes an increased risk zone: the layers of the new solution superimposed on it begin to pull off the old material, and after a while the screed will be blown and peeled off at this place. If this is not done, then due to poor adhesion, new materials can simply come off together with particles of the old base.
3. Violation of finishing technology. Peeling on the ceiling screed may occur in cases of violation of recommendations for the implementation of screed, namely, when the next layer is superimposed on the previous is not completely dried out.This is especially common in cases when wet areas remain in places after the starting leveling layer, but a beginner is led into the illusion that the surface in such areas is already solid. If you impose the next layer on top of them, the possibility of full evaporation of moisture remains will be blocked: it will concentrate inside the screed, which can lead to crumbling, followed by delamination. Therefore, it is very important not to rush, giving each layer of putty to dry well.
4. External exposure to moisture.This can be either a ceiling leakage from above, or increased humidity in the room where the work takes place. Therefore, it is very important to provide all the required conditions for high-quality drying of the screed: the optimum temperature is above +10 degrees and good ventilation.
If we take into account all the above reasons during the implementation of the screed, the percentage of the likelihood that there will be exfoliation will be minimal. It is also important to attend to the quality materials - do not use an expired and cheap product.
